- There are threee ways to style a webpage using CCS:
- Inline CCS: These styles apply to a specific HTML Tag and affects a particular page element only.
- Internal CCS style sheet: It's an embedded style sheet that contains CSS rules for the webpage in the head section of the HTML file.
- External CCS style sheet: Allows developers to keep all CSS rules in a separate file which makes design changes easier
- A CCS Rule contains a selector and a declaration block.
- Selector: It defines the element or attributes to which the rules or declarations will apply.
- Declarations: They contain two components, the CCS Propertywe want to apply and the value of that property
- Example: "div {color: black};"
- To add an external CSS stylesheet to your html page the following code needs to be added in the head section between < >:
- link rel="stylesheet" href="./folder/file.css"
- Link: Creates the conennection to the external file
- rel: Specifies the relationship between the current document and the linked document resource
- href: Specifies the URL of the external resource, to locate the actual file, we add the assets folder/file
- A Class Attribute can be used as a selector. They allow to share CCS rules to any element by assigning the rule to a class attribute with a class selector
